Make a quick base layout so you can spend more time on the decorating

This layout is one of 9 created from just one pack of Candid Moments papers and co-ordinating cardstock.  It’s part of my latest Same But Different online class.  Of the 9 layouts, this is my favourite.

The paper portion is super quick to assemble, leaving lots of time to enjoy the stamping and decorating with the stickers, die cuts and card making stamp set that are all part of the Candid Moments collection.

Make your title pop on the page

Use the thin cuts and stamps in the Candid Moments card making stamp set to create your title.  The two tone effect on the letters is easily created as the stamps for each letter come in two pieces!  Here are my tips for getting a good result:

  • Cut the thin cuts first from White Daisy cardstock
  • Lay on the foam side of your Versamat so it’s easy to see the outline of each letter and heart.
  • Stamp the lower half of the letter or heart first. This portion of each letter is just easier to line up with the thin cut shape.  Check you have an even border on bottom and side of stamp.
  • When lining up top half of the letter, be sure to have your head directly above the stamp and then look through the block. Overlap the two stamp sections slightly.

Lightly sponge Carolina ink on the base page to hel;p the letters stand out.  Pop the heart up on foam adding the LOVE sticker to it.  Complete the cluster with the bracket frames from the die cut set.

Create fun journal boxes

These cute little file card shapes are cut using one of the thin cuts in the set.  Ink the edges in Mink ink and sponge the background with Carolina ink.  Finish off with a few hearts to form a pleasing cluster and draw attention to the story on the page.

I love this technique of listing short facts about the experience.  It’s a fun change from long paragraphs.
