You are invited to the

2026 Scrapbook Retreat

4pm May 1 - 4pm May 3

Let's celebrate our love of memory keeping and creating with paper.  We will laugh a lot and enjoy 48 hours away from the daily grind at home.  You have the opportunity to learn something new at our two optional croptalks crop talks and your chats with other retreat participants.

We gather at the Swan Valley Adventure Centre, Middle Swan, WA

The venue is well run, the cropping room is open 24/7, is well lit and you have a full, spacious table to work on. The food is yummy, and dishes are done for you.  You will sleep in share rooms, on comfy beds.

It's a weekend where the cooking & cleaning is done for you, where you are sitting with lots of scrap happy ladies and you will not be interrupted.

You bring photos to scrapbook along with papers, stamps, stickers, inks and tools you own, and I provide time and inspiration to make pages.

Learn something new

At retreat, the two optional crop talks will give you some tips, tricks and skills to help you weave stories of the past and present together on a layout.  As we scrapbook, there are often memories from the past that come to mind

Some stories will encourage you to look for or take extra photos. Some will remind you that you have memorabilia you can add to the page.

You may not make any pages this way on the weekend, but you will go away knowing how you can do if it is right for a future layout.

These are the kinds of stories you can weave into a current layout

  • A similar experience enjoyed when you were younger
  • A special moment shared with the person in the photos
  • Reflections on how a place or person has changed
  • Little things like the price of something, fashion changes, hairstyles
  • Where a tradition began and how it is upheld

That’s all I need to know!  I’ll register now

Some examples of how this can be done

This layout is about our 40th wedding anniversary on Jan 4 this year.  We went out to dinner, took photos of the food and not ourselves! So, I pulled in some recent selfies we’d taken and a wedding photo.  Then I wrote about the joy we’ve found with jobs we love and supporting each other followed by a list of 5 things we have achieved during our marriage.

I was making samples for a presentation I was giving using the Scenic Coast Suite and asked Mike for a few of his favourite sunset photos.

They were from different places in WA and there wasn’t a big story to tell about any of them specifically, so I decided to make it about his photography journey.

I turned on the voice recording app on my phone and asked him about his first camera, why he loves taking photos and what has changed in his photography over the past 50 years. The app converted that to text which I dropped into a word document, edited and printed on vellum.

Other ways you can weave then and now together on a layout

You've just taken a cruise to celebrate a milestone birthday.  Add in photos and stories from past cruises or birthdays.

You haven't scrapbooked Christmas photos for the past 4 years. Combine them, focusing on the traditions observed each year or how individuals have grown and changed in that time.

Your son just graduated high school, and you haven't scrapbooked any of it. Choose three things he loved most about his time there and tell stories about how he began, developed and mastered in each of them over the 6 years.

You are working with photos of your most recent garden makeover.  Weave in stories about how you learnt about gardening, people who taught you or what past experiences influence your plant & design choices.

You have chosen to embrace your grey hair.  Gather photos of past hairstyles and colours
