In a nutshell...
Unlike previous album projects where the focus was on recording events and milestones of the people you love or the places you've been, this time you have permission to make it all about you.
This is Me in 2023 is an album where you focus on completing pages that share insight into your life in the present moment. We celebrate our love of memory keeping and allow ourselves to be the star of the album for a change. You will make many pages, reflect, celebrate and be amazed at how rich your life is as you work through the process.
Once you have registered, I will provide you with a list of supplies to use. Choose a paper pack that best matches your personality.
Every second page will be a pocket page so it’s quick to put together.
That’s all I need to know! I’ll register now
This is Me in 2023 process explained
First up I will guide you through the process of choosing WHAT to focus on in your album. This is not something you should hurry but rather enjoy the process of looking at possibilities and choosing the things that mean the most to you.
Next you will collect or take photos and have them printed. You will be able to include photos and stories covering up to 20 different prompts which I will help you select as you work through the preparation module online.
I will then give you a very simple pattern to follow to pre-decorate 20 layouts for your 6” x 8” album. It's like a no brain kind of activity to just get you in the scrap zone and ready for the key part of the project - adding photos and stories.
Once the photos are in place and the stories written, you can go back and add decorative elements as desired.
A bit more about the Preparation
The first module in the class outlines the prompts you might like to use for each layout in your album. You can just have those percolating in the back of your mind as you go about your daily life. Along the way you will connect something you are doing with a prompt and may snap a photo. Add this to a ME23 Album on your phone for now.
A lot of your photos will not include you! They might be your favourite cup to drink from; the books on your bedside table; screenshots from your phone; places you love; food you enjoy and the like. You will doubtless end up with WAY more photos than you can use but I’ll help you focus in on the ones that best tell your story.
5 brief video lessons with suggestions for photos to take or locate that will work well in your ME23 album follow this. You will fine tune your list of prompts to suit the things you wish to share in your album and print the photos to go with them.
My goal is for you to have a clear plan of action, just the supplies you need for your project and a simple system to make your pages BEFORE you begin the project.
Frequently Asked Questions
These are some of the questions people most frequently ask about this retreat:
Question #1 Should I only include photos taken this year?
This album is all about who you are right now so the majority of photos will be current. If you are sharing about something like a hobby you've had a long time, then an older photo could be great.
Question #2 Do I have to be in every photo?
You will include several photos with you in them but many of your photos will be of things, places and other people.
Question #3 How many photos will I need?
We are working in a 6" x 8" album so you only need 1-3 photos per page. The email sequence beginning March 10 will help guide your photo selection.
Question #4 How much journalling do I have to do?
That is completely up to you. Some layouts will want a full story, others a list or a quote. It's your album, you choose the content.
Question #5 What paper pack should I choose?
Look for papers that use colours you love and have no specific theme as we will be using it through the whole album and themed patterns won't work for all your photos.
Question #6 How much decoration do I have to include?
As much or as little as you like. The album is designed so it focusses on the photos and story. I like extra embellishments and stamping so my album includes those. If you prefer a classic, simple design, you leave off the extras.
What do you say, are you in?
I truly believe this will be one of the most meaningful albums you ever make and that EVERY person would benefit from creating a time capsule album like this one.
I would be honoured to guide you through the process of creating an album recording exactly who you are right here, right now.
