Artistic Adventure Begins

It was so exciting to be part of the North American CTMH Convention in June.  The stage looked gorgeous and changed each day.  Mandy & I were able to have a quick photo on it the first day.  I wanted a simple layout for these photos as it marks the beginning of the Convention chapter in my album.



The focus is on the Paper Fundamentals range in all my classes this month and this page features the Adventure Assortment (Z2032) of these papers.  I just love the happy colours in it and chose Lagoon, Honey, Sunset and Crystal Blue for the layout.  Crystal Blue is in the Whimsy pack... it just snuck onto the page and had to stay!  You will find the pattern and instructions for this page in Make It From Your Heart, Vol 2: Pattern 4 (Left page)



I wanted the embellishments to be 'soft' for this layout.  The Brushed Complements (X7190C) were perfect.  Not only did the colours work with the photos and cardstock, but the stickers are actually vellum so they blended nicely on the page.  When I wanted them to stand out a bit more, I layered them on White Daisy Cardstock and fussy cut around them.



I was making this page at a consultant crop event and one of the ladies said, "It's a shame we don't have Green Shimmer Trim."  I thought about the fact we can colour clear sparkles with our Alcohol markers and wondered aloud if we could do the same to Silver Shimmer Trim.  The answer is "YES".  That led to some playing and all 3 of these shimmer trims are  silver, coloured with alcohol markers.  Neat isn't it?

My tips would be to press lightly using the chisel tip end of the markers and go over it more than once.  Blot off excess ink with a scrap of paper before placing on your page.  Run your pen on scrap paper to be sure no specks of glitter are caught in it's fibres.
